DVDA Studio 3 menu transitions

I'm trying to create an effect in a DVD menu where when you select a button it plays a sound effect before moving to the next menu. I do have it working sort of... the problem is that the screen goes blank first, the sound plays, and then it moves to the selected menu screen.

I've been experimenting with the properties pages and can't find a way to stop the screen from blanking before playing a sound. Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is most likely a function of your player. The laser reading the DVD has to physically move from one point to another on the DVD - when this happens the player is probably showing a blank screen.

You cannot specify an audio clip to play while other video is still on the screen. When you specify an audio file to play, a combined audio/video entity is created, obviously with blank video, and this combined entity is played. If you want something to show up on the screen during the sound then you must create an audio/video clip with both the sound effect and the image you want displayed.

Probably the most straight-forward way to accomplish this with as little fuss as possible is to add the sound effect and what you want shown as the first few seconds of the video to be shown. Click the menu button and the first thing to be played will be the sound effect because it's at the beginning of the selected video. You could use a screen capture of the DVD menu as the image to be shown with the sound effect.

Thanks Chienworks!

I'm going to take your advice and add the sound effect to the next menu as the simpliest way to go. I'll probably experiment with creating a transition video as well. This is a fun tool to play around with!
