Yes!

I like the new features:
# Support for opening MPEG-2 and AVCHD video files
# Support for using AC3 and PCM audio with HD video

That's my Sony!

The new "preview on external monitor" is a nice touch too.

Nice, now we need some updates for 8.1 and 8.0 - hopefully coming soon!

Maybe as early as Monday.

Good stuff... kinda funny a regular user (albeit, a very active one) created the thread on this rather than that ForumAdmin account, lol.

Maybe as early as Monday.

Seriously? Was there some announcement I missed?

The DVDA announcement was posted by a ForumAdmin on the DVDA forum, that's where I learned about it. It pays to go to the DVDA forum every once in a while.

No, you didn't miss an announcement, but there is a Sony party at NAB in Las Vegas on Monday, if there is any announcement, it would probably happen then and there.

Thanks John for posting this.
I do not wander over to the DVDA forum all that much, but I sure expected a notice from the administrator here as well. DVDA is part of the Vegas pro suite...

Where one does find that?

EDIT:

Found it under "Options."

Ahm - these are the news which came with the first 5.0 release. The 5.0b news are two bugfixes.

External monitor preview's been there quite a long time. Don't know when exactly it came but it's already in version 4. I think it's been there since the first DVD-A version.

Version 5 (first release) brought up new preview option on secondary Windows display.

Hope we hear there's AVCHD improvements and CUDA Support on Monday!

does DVDA 5 work with SD DVD's no problems? The first one had issues so I went back to 4.5.

I've been using DVDA 5 to make all my SD DVDs since it came out and I've never had any problems.

I wouldn't expect 9 to come out since the NAB store here is stocked with boxes of Vegas 8. Perhaps an incremental 8 update will be announced.

Jay, I'm glad you found it - I wouldn't like to think I lead you astray now?

It's starting to get confusing with the posts of things not actually included in the latest version 5.0b. Here is what Sony posted in the release notes:

Notable fixes/changes in version 5.0b

* Fixed a bug that prevented markers from being saved to .m2ts files.
* Fixed a bug that prevented subtitles from being turned off via end actions in Blu-ray Disc projects.
