No such problem here with DVDA - but have seen Nero refuse or pretend to erase a disc a couple of times. Next time i'll try DVDA ! It could be a dvd-writer problem as the only way out was to reboot the computer and retry. That worked for me (in Nero)

No, I don't have a DVD burner problem unless I have 2 bad Plextor drives. :)

If you tried and tested 2 burners on the same machine that seems more unlikely

Still would be interested to hear if a restart of the computer would also solve your problem - if i come across another difficult disc i'll update you on my findings with erasing in DVDA.

I forgot to mention that restarts were tried. but no help. Fortunately, the need to erase a +RW rarely occurs but erase should work. I have sent an email to tech support.

RSP If you try erase with DVDA make sure you use +RW.

I erase +RW's all the time but I do it when I prep/burn the DVD. is that when you ae doing it? and what burner do you have?

HappyFrier. I don't have a problem with the prep prior to burn. That is not an erase but an overwrite. When I use File>>Erase then select Quick or Full is what causes the problem. After I use quick or full erase the +RW is unreadable. I have to use erase on Nero to recover the disk. Normally, it is not necessary to erase a +RW you simply overwirte what is on the disk.

I have a Plextor 716A and Plextor 708A.

Try non erasing the +RW & jsut do a prep-burn. it will ask. I've never used the file-erase option before (never noticed it!).

For video DVDs I do but I was burning a data disk using another application and the application would not write over the data so I tried DVDA3's quick erase under file. When the disk died I tried full erase which also failed and then I erased with Nero and recovered the disk.
