DVDs letterboxing

This seems to be a problem with the video out from Vegas, as two different DVD programmes give the same result. But I figured that there my be more DVD type knowledge here.

I have made a video in Vegas Studio and set the No Letterboxing switch on. This works fine for rendered videos. But if I try to make a DVD,using either DVDA or another DVD maker, the result letter boxes anyway, putting a border around the entire video. Neither DVD programme has any switched alternative I can see to stop this. Is there some setting I am doing wrong?

I create the video as a 1280*720 16:9 video, pixel ration 1:1, then take it to the authoring software. That is the result I get on the DVD, just too small for the screen.

The Preview in DVDa shows the letterboxing (when I ask to Preview Current), but the timeline viewer does not show it.

Any help appreciated.

DVD Architect defaults to a 4:3 project, so even if you give it 16:9 material it's going to make a 4:3 DVD with letterboxed 16:9 video inside it.

In File / Properties, change the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9.

DVD video for NTSC is always 720 x 480. If you change the resolution, it will not be right on the DVD.
