Hey, you can always download that trial version of Nero and try to burn those -R's. Why lose the money on the discs. Wait until you know you can burn them all within the trial period.

I was almost on the verge of downloading the trial version of Nero, before I decided to do one last shot and I tried +R media in the drive and it burns fine..what a winding tortuous road to discover this. I can be sure not to put any -R in there from now on.

I only burn with DVDA and don't have a problem with the media I mentioned above. If the drive is a problem, you can get another one cheaper than wasting a lot of incompatible media. An NEC ND-3520A or NEC ND-3540A are around $40.
You also can look at the higly rated BenQ DW1640 for around the same price.
As far as that media you have, you can try burning at 4X with it.

Kunal, glad to hear you got it worked out.

I recently replaced a Pioneer drive with an NEC ND-3540A and haven't had any problems with it so far.

I use Taiyo Yuden DVD+R media which is sold under the FujiFilm brand. The "Made in Japan" Fujifilms, not the Taiwan ones.

I'm about to buy a 50-pack of Taiyo Yuden +Rs from supermediastore. Any other recommended sites to get better deals from?

thanks!
Kunal.
