Oh, please. I've been given bad advice on that forum concerning HD and repairs. Things that would have costed me thousands of $. Thank goodness, I didn't follow any advice from that "lets's delete post forum" so our sponsors don't get mad! I don't care. Buy all the z1s in the world. Some of us know the truth about HD.
Anyhow, I'm done venting. My concerns are known. Can we all go back to our cliques, now? Glad to see how you all feel on the subject.
All my posts get moderated on DVinfo.
I couldnt give a toss because if I accidentally spell "the " as "teh" and i have information that isnt released becuase my post is deleted before its even published, the other readers are the ones who lose out.. not me..
In fact, to be honest, since my posts have been moderated, ive spent much less time there and much more of my time doing real work, which is more profitable to me.
Remember the Austrian Emperor in the movie "Amadeus"?
He said about Mozart's music, "Too many notes!"
Soon we will all say the equivalent about HD, "Too many lines!"
Consumers nationwide will go to their nearest Best Buy or Circuit City big box stores to demand that they take back the HD plasmas and LCDs they sold them, and ask them to give the customers real honest-to-goodness NTSC tube sets.
Basically what I am saying is Chris has deleted a lot of posts from his DVinfo forum concerning the problems with the early HD cams and I think that is BS.
I don't know how else to put this any more politely. Having a discussion about something that none of us know exactly what it is has to be a far geater amount of BS than anything Chris might or might not have done.
Perhaps if you'd care to tell us just what your core complaint is this thread might seem less vacuous. Chris has every right to delete anything from HIS forum. Wether that's reasonable depends on what was said and I don't think many / any of us know what that was, so asking for our comments or support seems quite wierd.
As some may have noticed, you're really new here at this forum due to whatever did or did not happen - for whatever reasons did or did not occur - or were or were not interpreted as being this or that at DVInfo.
Point: As the old Ram Dass book title said, be here now, let the past go and just stick to these simple pointers -- if ya wanna hang around and get value out of this cyber joint:
--- The overwhelming majority of members here are decent, helpful people who can at times go out of their way to help someone. (Hell, I just went through two eye surgeries and I got more valuable and kindly input than I ever expected.)
--- Many are old-hand pros and with that comes some maturity and also backbone in terms of not tolerating adolescent or disrespectful behavior, etc., be they moderators or not.
--- Nobody's perfect (I once got a bit cocky early on and learned my lesson real fast). . Opinions are like derrières, everyone's got one. How one expresses them is what matters and makes the difference. That is...
--- There are plenty of places on the Net to indulge in flippant to rude ways. This isn't one of them. But...
--- This also doesn't mean that humor, outright silliness and leeway in letting people be themselves isn't allowed. It is.
So welcome to this forum and try to enjoy what it has to offer:
real community based user-based feedback and camaraderie.
Due to other priorities in my life, I've had to put video editing on indefinite hold and haven't worked in VP8 in a couple of months. But I like this place and come back to hang out anyway. Good vibes.
Short version: Be cool and you'll dig the place and be digged.

I'm cool with all the responses, but I still feel Chris Hurd from DVinfo has been a rude jerk to me and many others by deleting posts on HD. There are other opinions on the internet that are more honest because they are not blind by sponsor support. I've had it with the two faces that pretend to be helping. At least here I know I am on a Sony forum.
Here is an update about the Dvinfo and their bull about HD. It seems to me is their goal is to make people buy hdv cams from tape works in texas without regards to the truth about hdv. No matter how they slice it 1440 DOES NOT equal 1920. Chris and his goons can not make everyone swallow this bull. Sensor size alone does not make HD. I'm so happy I've not bought into this hype.
Spot said Dave007 wasn't deleted because he won't consider HD, and personal attacks are the *only* way you can be banned so quickly from DVinfo.net.
A while back I posted a simple civil question in a thread started by Tapeworks on pre-ordering the new Z7 and S270 cameras. Two guys posted that they had ordered and got a great price and I merely asked if they would care to share the 'great price'. Shortly after that, when I went to check for any responses, found my post had been deleted. I then, again very civilly, asked why my post had disappeared and not only did that post disappear, but I have not been locked out. Cannot post, cannot update my profile, cannot see embedded pictures.. etc. I can still browse, but I fear if ever I log out, i won't be able to get back in.
My very civil and proper private emails to Chris have gone totally unanswered.
Tom, I'm not sure of why Chris is not answering your mails, other than to say that in all the years I've known Chris, "prompt" responses are usually less than immediate. But he does always reply, and I'll say that he is by far, one of the most reasonable people on the planet. He is also incredibly fair, even when he has strong disagreement with a post by someone on his website, and that's the key...it's *his* website. I'm no longer moderating there, FWIW, as sponsors are not permitted to moderate.
That said, re-read Dave's post above. He's obviously very lost as to what HD is or isn't, and how HD works. Intense arguing from such a misplaced position isn't going to win friends and influence people.
Thanks Spot. I have not been very active there, but have contributed in the past.
I really couldn't understand what my 'offence', as I didn't flame anyone, disagree with anyone. I guess I'll need to be patient and perhaps, in time, this will be resolved.
Cheers,
Tom
