Dynex DVDs - Any good?

A friend bought me a 100-pack of Dynex DVD-R 16x DVDs as a gift. I usually use Taiyo Yuden with ZERO problems. When I tried to return these to Best Buy, they wouldn't take them because they are discontinued -- so now I am stuck with them. Are these DVD's any good? I am concerned about backing anything important up with them or using them for video projects.

If you use Taiyo Yuden you are probably a connoiseur of dvd material. I would say just as you would use an inexpensive wine for marinating and cooking, use your dynex for things that aren't as critical: a quick copy for a friend who wont mind if he has to come back for another one, a cup coaster, a wedge to take out that annoying wobble in your desk, a Christmas ornament, an art project for your preschooler, or a target for target practice.

Seriously - if it takes the data - does it really matter?
Nero makes a program that checks the integrity of the disk "nero cd dvd tester'. I think you can pick it up for free if you dont want to buy nero's full program. If you check the integrity after you are done you should know if you need to toss it and burn another one or not.

......and buy your friend a bolo paddle for Christmas ;-)

Yeah I agree. I would use them for things other than distributing movies. You can pass data to a friend, copy a Scooby Doo movie for your kids to play in the car. Move files from one computer to another. I wouldn't use them for distributing video or backing up any valuable files though.
