Rotate one of the clips to the orientation you want. Then copy it to the clipboard (select it, press Ctrl-C). Then select all the other clips you want rotated to the same orientation (hold down Shift key, left click on the clips). Then under the Edit menu, click on Paste Event Attributes.

My free Timeline Tools utility has an option to do this. All you need to do is Select the Events you want to Rotate, then bring up the Event Properties Dialog from the Main Display Grid context menu. Select the desired Rotation option from the drop down list and close the dialog window. For more information on this option see the Timeline Tools Users Guide.

Perhaps the easiest method: in the Project Media window, you can select multiple files, right-click one of them, and choose Rotate 90° Clockwise or Counterclockwise.

Does this option actually change the file or only the display preference in Vegas? In many (most) cases I do not want to rotate the actual file on my hard drive.

This might be true if it wasn't so difficult to locate specific timeline events in the project media list. I typically work with very large slideshow projects of nearly 1000 image files. To make things even worse, most of the media files are located in different sub-directories, but share a similar naming sequence - file 123.jpg has the same name as 123.jpg in another directory, but has a different image.

This said, the easiest method of rotating multiple events would be to do it directly from the timeline. But SVP doesn't support this without going through a multiple step process of selecting an event, bringing up the context menu, and selecting the selected event in the project media list. That's why myself and others created extension solutions to the problem. Personally I believe it's more direct with fewer steps.

But then to each his own.
