There are no creative audio controls in DVDA. Understand that it is an authoring program, not an editor or DAW.

Your audio needs to come in as edited from Vegas or another app.

I am fine if DA5 is just an authoring application.
And I don't mind the extra steps to edit audio (or video) in another application if DA5 won't do it.
I wanted to make sure I had not skipped something.

Right. The best workflow is to bring the audio in as a separate AC-3 file rendered in Vegas. That way you can swap out audio tracks or include multiple audio in the case of DVDA Pro.
