I'm sorry about Paul. I didn't know him, but he would reply to my posts sometimes and I immediately recognized the user name. This is a good place to learn about vegas, the users here really know their stuff. As someone mentioned there are training videos for free on the website too. Some a little minimal though. Youtube is a great resource as well for learning about sony vegas and it can often be helpful just to watch other people do it in videos as well. I dunno if it will be that much help but I also made a beginners tutorial that goes over a lot of basic things and most of the user interface, it's long though and my voice is not super great.

Best Wishes

Thank you so much Quassos Music. I have to admit I had not thought of it that way. I just feel so lost without him - so many firsts, but that is a neat way to look at it. Thank you so much for the thought.

Thank you Nick, I have felt so welcome and I have learned so much just in the week I have been on the form. Paul would show me posts he put on and comments that were put on his posts. He was always excited.

PeterWright, I had forgotten to put my name on. It is Tammy. Thanks tor the condolences and I feel like I am walking into a new world. Upset with myself that I did not pay more attention to what Paul did.- just thought he would be here for a long time to come. I am a person who gets excited at little accomplishments- In my life I have found that I need to take baby steps to get to the big destination. It means a lot to me that you said Bravo: gives me hope I can do this with all your help.

There are many programs that can be used for this, but you should look for Nero, ImgBurn, or Roxio
Be VERY VERY wary of ImgBurn. It contains malware even if you down load it from their site. I had to burn a quick CD for my dad's friend on my dads pc. I installed it carefully (or thought I did). It ran fine and did the burn but after I rebooted his PC, a bunch windows popped up claiming of bad files and to update his pc. I uninstalled ImgBurn and did a MalwareBytes scan and his pc seems to be OK now. I will not recommend ImgBurn to anyone. Or if I do, be very careful how it's installed.

It's too bad because it's a good program gone to the dark side.

Sorry for your loss.

When I was learning Vegas from scratch along with videoing (about 7 years ago), I found forums a wealth of knowledge. I later discovered this forum which is right up there with the best for information.

By far the best way to learn is just to do some quick projects - pretty much anything so you can practice and make mistakes, work out the best render options, mess it up, make it better, all the time posting on here and asking for advice.

Keep it all simple to start with and in no time you'll be adding effects, correcting colour etc etc.

Byron,

As for Imgburn, during installation, once you will be asked something different, I forgot exactly what is it, something like Install toolbar or something to 'optimize' your PC.
UNcheck mark on this.

Editguy43 Widow:

Sorry, never saw this thread when it was fresh. Sincere thoughts and prayers coming your way. Hang in there.

Kimberly, same to you.

I've had my own situation in the past year. It's made me much more aware of how fleeting all this "existence thing" is. Perhaps that's one reason why I enjoy capturing time on video and then molding it into something that will give future viewers great pleasure.

On a 2003 choir tour through Germany and Austria I recorded a gaggle of our pert high-school girl singers having breakfast in the hotel dining room one morning, I think in Vienna. One of them asked on the video "Why are you recording us?" and I replied "Because one day your children will see this and they will say: Mom! You're so young! And so thin!!!"

And that is EXACTLY what they will say, some day.
