Editing AV1 footage is really intensive on ram and buggy.

Hi everyone!

Ive noticed that editing any AV1 video fills up ram alot and really fast, eventually it runs out of ram, and starts writing to the pagefile, and that causes my windows to slow down and eventually lock up. Anything i could do to fix this?

I'm not surprised as 16GB Ram is not very much.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

As an example I load four AV1 4K clips giving a 4min duration. Fade each clip with 2sec fade V22 uses 10GB of RAM . Also AV1 is harder to edit than my normal Camcorder media XAVCS, you can see that navigating the timeline is slower and finding precise frames takes longer.
