Editing GH5 4K 422/10bit/Long GOP 150 Mbps

How can I edit this file format in Vegas Pro 14 Build 252? I've read others talking about instability but I only get a green screen - no image at all.Do I need a newer Vegas build or need to transcode?

I purchased Brorsoft video converter but the converted MPEG 2 files look to be much smaller and I'm guessing they aren't even 422 anymore, although I don't know how to tell.

Posting "media Info" on the format would help.

From what I have read the camera should be producing an AVC.mp4 file. But there does look to be settings that allow it to record to an alternate container like MOV. You do not list your file container format. I would do some tests and see if the MOV or MP4 work better. Also make sure your Windows, Vegas build , and GPU drivers are all fully updated.

Converting the footage should not be necessary if the material is AVC.

Rendering some proxies may help with playback performance.

Rendering the final footage should be done in 32-bit full mode or video levels, and rendered to a 10-bit capable AVC profile.

422 10bits mp4 files can't be read by VP14.

2 solutions:

  1. Upgrade to VP15.
  2. Rewrap to mxf or transcode your footage.

You can use Virtualdub Filtermod (free) to transcode to Cineform. Cineform is now natively supported by this software.

You could also try (download the trial) Acrovid's FootageStudio. It can transcode gh5 4k 10 bit files to cineform 10 bit 422 that will play well with vegas 14.
