editing just end of a clip?

Newbie here - tried search but didn't find an answer.

I have a captured video clip in my project and want to slow down just the last few seconds of the clip before it transitions to something else. Can I do this? If so, how?

I guess the generic question is - how do you edit "parts" of clips. Another example, I have a song (not a music loop) playing through the video and would like to edit a middle section to have the volume fade out while I'm playing another sound file, then fade back in. Can I do this? Or is there a way to cut out a chunk of audio?

Thanks for your patience and replies.

Try the Split command; place your cursor at the point where you want to start slowing down the clip and press the S key. The video clip will now be broken into two parts at that point. You can stretch out the second part without affecting the first part.

This same procedure can be used with audio, however, for what your're doing a Volume Envelope might be better. Once you've inserted the envelope, you can place points on the blue envelope line and move them up and down to control the volume.

Awesome - thanks for the quick reply. I'm just beginning to learn all the capabilities of this great tool - can't wait to go experiment with splits and envelopes. Thanks again.
