Editing question

I am currently working on a project for a customer and some of the video in this project is elongated. My client asked if I could put it into proper proportion and I confidently said "yes". I thought with the simple "Event Pan / Crop" function I could either pull the height down or widen the width to put this back into proportion. But I can't seem to make either position work independently of the other. I thought changing Source: Main Aspect Ration from "yes" to "no" would allow that but alas I'm wrong. What am I missing? There must be a simple way to change the height without changing the width of my video is there not?

If the video was captured in the proper ratio, you should be able to go to the media properties and set the Aspect.

In the Event Pan/Crop window there is a button that shows 'Lock Aspect Ratio' when you hover over it. Click that and you should be able to size vertically and horizontally. You might need to push the 'Size about centre' as well.

There also preset options (top of window) to crop to standard ratios.

You're talking about "Maintain Aspect Ratio"? I've changed that from "yes" to "no" but height and width are still locked to each other whether I drag the window to crop or try and change the numbers individually under the Position: Column.

You also have to turn off the SIZE ABOUT CENTER. It is an icon on the left.

You know, if there is a better forum out there for anything in the world I'd tell whatever forum it is that it has nothing on the Sony Forum. Thanks so much for your input as that was the key I was missing. Now to finish this project and make a couple bucks. Yahoo! If any of you wonderful people ever make it to the West Coast of Florida call me and I'll take you out to dinner.
