Editing Slow Speaker

I'm editing a 3 hour speech where the speaker has long pauses. Instead working with real time is there a way I can use the Rate:0:00 (lower left corner) and speed it up without creating a chipmunk effect?

I tried going into the properties of the audio and adjusting the length but that takes away from the quality.

Thanks in advanced.

Do you just want to speed it up while you're editing, and then return to normal speed? Or are you planning on using it sped up as the final version?

One of the stretch options is to preserve pitch, instead of lock pitch to stretch. That's probably what you're after.

Personally i like the time stretch process in Sound Forge much better. I regularly use that to condense our pastor's sermons from 35 minutes down to 29.5 with no loss of intelligibility.

elastique works well in Vegas. You have to shorten the clip then change from classic to elastique and pro in the properties.
