EDL Development: Offlining in Vegas

I was just wondering if anyone knows if EDL exporting is being further developed in Vegas? The CMX EDL script currently availible is a great function, unfortunately it is still limited.

My hope is that in the near future an EDL script will become availible, enabling Vegas users to be able to use the program both as a finishing tool (DV) and a true offline system.

I have recently been turned down for a few gigs because I was unable to provide the client with a proper EDL for a project that was originated on film, transferred to DigiBeta, dubbed to DV. They wanted to go back to the DigiBeta for a tape to tape color correct, and eventually a film-out from the DigiBeta.

I have never really done any programming, but I am willing to learn if it will help me create a working EDL script that can be taken back to say an Avid Symphony suite. Can somone point me in the right direction towards learning how to create such a script? Is there a good website or book you can recommend that will teach me the language of Vegas scripting (what is that language)? Also, does anyone have a sample EDL that is "somewhat" universally accepted on most NLE systems that I can use as a template?

Vegas is a wonderful product, and I ask for these things because I am selfish... I don't want to use any other program to edit with.

Thanks for the help,
Keith
