Effect on Timeline Applies to Media Bin Clip

I have a small clip on the timeline that was cut from a larger clip in the Media Bin. I applied an effect to that clip on the timeline, but it changed every instance, and every clip cut from the original. I only wanted the effect to apply to the one clip that I applied it to.
Am I doing it wrong, or is this a bug?

Sounds like you've applied the FX at Media level. Or even at Project Level.
