Effects Flashing on/off During Render

Dallas-Petenbrink wrote on 7/26/2021, 1:49 PM

During render, and often while editing, the effects on clips will flash on and off. When using chroma key, it will render perfectly and then flash the scene without the chroma key effect even with no cut in the video, and no transition. Even if Chroma Key is the only FX enabled on a single piece of video. Occasionally I get lines that flash across the render/preview, and sometimes it looks like tracking has frozen with fixed lines with varying opacity over the render. I've never experienced issues like this and I've been a Vegas Pro user since version 7. I have no idea how to fix this. I've tried after a fresh restart with no luck. When these issues come up in preview, I can usually stop and restart the program to fix the anomalies. That doesn't work for render. PC has an i7 9800x 8 core processor, 32GB of ram and an 8GB Nvidia RTX 4000.

Yes to the questions j-v raises.

Try to reduce dynamic ram preview to 0MB before rendering.

What render template are you using specifically?

I am having the same issue now on a Win 11, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, NVDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti with 128 GB Ram. This is happening on all version of Vegas 19 - 22.

@Michael-Kelly You say you are having the same issue now. Presumably that means you weren't having a problem previously? So first thoughts - has anything recently changed on your system? Windows update, GPU driver update?

RogerS wrote on 12/30/2024, 7:48 PM

@Michael-Kelly Could you try the known good projects in my signature and see if you still have the flickering issue? I do suggest starting your own thread and including mediainfo.

Thanks RogerS, the project rendered OK with no issues, but it did not have any Chroma Keying to it. I've found the source of my problem, it is the NewBlueFX Chroma Key Pro and the native Chroma Keyer that comes with Vegas, using the BCC Chroma Key Studio works like a charm. I know this is not a fix but a work around, but the studio actually gives you much more controls and options.

@Michael-Kelly I've used NewBlue Chroma Key with no issues so there must definitely be something else going on. Did you try turning off GPU Acceleration in the NewBlue plugins?

RogerS wrote on 1/4/2025, 11:10 PM

@Michael-Kelly Would you be able to share a brief sample project that shows this issue? I can try to replicate with the native chroma keyer.

The OP here has a Turing generation NVIDIA GPU, as do I. I also have a RTX 4060 mobile.

I actually uninstalled all instances of Vegas and re-installed them all from version 14 through to 22 and now the issue seems to be resolved, thanks for your assistance.
