encoding AC3 within DVDA

ok...i load an avi and choose to "prepare dvd"...I get 2 messages that say 1. video will be compressed and 2. audio will be compressed.

Where do I choose bitrate, ac3, etc. It seems I can't control anything.

Under the File menu, choose Optimize DVD. In this screen there are some settings you can modify. I'm not sure if that's what you want but maybe a start.
