Encore vs DVDa

There are those who seem to say that Encore is more powerful than DVDa.... frankly, I can't see it.

I've spent the last couple of weeks playing with Encore and not only have I found it buggy, but it's a pain to work with, the subtitling abilities are terrible compared to DVDa,

There are some nice features... being able to convert an object to a button make life a bit easier and some other little didlies, but I crashed Encore 3 times in about an hour. I've had problems with DVDa....but I can't remember ever crashing with it.

Creating menus with motion backgrounds in dvda is pretty easy (and bullet proof) but try to create one in Encore... I link the menu with the motion background and all works fine.....until I start adding buttons.... the motion background in the preview stops working.

All told.... I think Encore is pretty sub par compared to dvda.... or is there something I'm missing???

I will have to agree Encore is far to clever for its own good and like you mine crashes more than it runs,i cant say if DVDa has ever crashed on me.

Having just started using DVDa with my last project, and also trying Encore with the same project files (just to compare the two), and having previously done a ton of DVD's straight off the timeline using Avid Liquid, I found DVDa very straightforward, easy to understand and use..... and I basically stopped trying to do the project in Encore cause it was just taking too long to understand it's jargon.

Of course I already had finished the project in DVDa - so there was less incentive to go the full Encore route.

The only advantage I have found is that you can actually smart render HDV from Vegas and encore will not recompress it. There is no way to do that in DVDA.
