entering an mp4 file to my Movie Edit pro 15 program

Alan-Sawyer wrote on 10/1/2024, 5:13 AM

I have being trying to edit some MP4 videos I have personally taken to save specific small clips. Each time I try to import a video, I get an error box saying MP4 not supported. I recently purchased an upgrade to Magix MP4 codec to see if that would resolve this but the problem still persisted. What is it I am not doing correctly?

I have had this software since 2015 but not used it up until now. I use Magix Audio Lab regularly so thought the Movie Edit Pro would do much the same job but for videos. Your help would be welcome

Kind regards

Alan Sawyer

MP4 is a wrapper that can contain different codecs, the common codecs being AVC (H.264) or HEVC (H.265). Many modern smart phones and action cameras use HEVC especially for 4K video and above. You'll need to check which codec is in the MP4 wrapper because if it's HEVC, it may that the years old Movie Edit Pro 15 does not accept HEVC media.

But as Movie Edit Pro is not a Vegas product, you'll need to post your question on MAGIX's Movie Studio forum (the new name for Movie Edit) at https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/movie-studio/
