Envelope Select Tool

There must be something Iam missing. I am trying to drag the cursor along the Timeline to find a particular scene and Play from there. But it then Selects that area and just plays the Selected area when I want to play forward from there. Is there any way to disable the Envelope Selct Tool so that I can move along the Timeline without selecting anything?

dragging along the timeline (like you are doing) is the best way I know of to find a particular spot in the video. then just click once before playing. that will deselect the area so you won't play from the start of the selection.

for detail work, you can scrub by holding control and clicking/dragging on your cursor position, but it only goes up to 2x speed.

are you coming from Premiere by any chance? I missed the way it scrubbed at first, but quickly got used to Vegas's style.

Cheesehole. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that today. Yes, I am thankfully away from Premiere which I look upon as being a Model T dressed in Lexus clothing! No more endless renderings and crashes. Thank you VV3. Ron.
