EQ Low Shelf oddity. . .

I do a fair amount of multi-track audio post-production with Vegas. I'm still running 4.0e. This is pretty tame stuff including vocals, a few instruments including piano. One piano player is a bit aggressive on pedal release so a 'thump' was prominent.

I already had a Paragraphic EQ on that track so I enabled the low shelf, set it to 45 Hz and - INF. The graphic of the EQ shows things correct, but the thump actually becomes more pronounced! When I adjust the shelf up to +25 dB it diminishes. HUH?

Is this a bug? When I move the cutoff frequency higher, something around 90 Hz. the shelf seems to work as anticipated, but delow 50-60 Hz the effect on the gain seems to reverse.

I have been through most of the patch application nightmare that relates to the move from Sonic Foundry to Sony branding and thought everything was OK. I've been using this plug-in for years and thought I would have noted this weird behavior before now.
