Error during rendering

RWatts wrote on 1/15/2004, 2:21 PM
I'm running MS 3.0a on a P4. Yesterday I successfully rendered a 25 minute video (with Chienworks help!) Today tried to render an almost identical video, with less complex content, and twice I get this error message (attached below) and shutdown at the same point in the video. There is nothing strange happening at that point, it is about 15% of the way into a 6 GB file.
Help!

Tried it a third time, it rendered without interruption. Didn't change anything, so issue is closed for the present.

good to hear you are back in action...

For future reference, if you have not done so, you should also submit error messages like that to Sony Support so they can address any code errors. You can submit it to http://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php

I usually post issues here and email support - being user to user forums, Sony support does not address issues in the forums as quickly as they do direct email.

also - that error appears to indicate the aviplugin was competeing for a memory space windows already had allocated elsewhere... do you run anything else while rendering? A good rule of thumb is to close everything else when rendering.. even virus apps. There is a freeware app that does this called EndItAll. A google search will return many sources of download.

To mmreed:
Thanks, two good pieces of advice, I will do both.
I had NAV and NIS turned off, but forgot that my web position software was on, although idle. But it was still running on the 3rd successful render. Probably something in the background.
Thanks again,
Rwatts
