Error message

When opening, saving, or closing a file I get the following error message about 1/3 of the time.

"An error occured while opening one or more files.

The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications."

If it pops up while trying to save I can just simply choose "save as" and it works. If it pops up while trying to open or close a file, it will not go away until I reboot the computer. It states closing other apps. but most of the time it is just the Vegas program open.

Are you saving on an external storage device that is not always on?

Nope. A folder in my C: drive.

After downloading, you may have decompressed VMS in a folder, and then installed the program in that same folder, resulting in problems you described. This is a long shot, but maybe you should start all over again, and make sure that doesn't happen.
Also, keep your project files not in the program folder.

Nope again. I saved the files in a folder that contains all the files asssociated with the movie. I have a company called Mid-Atlantic Presentations. I have 2 sub-folders in this folder named after the 2 projects I have completed: LBJ and Honey-Do Homeworks. All the files that are in the project media are in the respective folders. I saved the .vf files as well as the mpg. and .wmv files in the respective folders too. Could this be the problem?

Have you actually checked your RAM usage and your hard drive free space? Maybe the error message is actually correct on the things it claims.

Don't know how to check ram usage but, the hard drive still has 14 gigs free. Is that not enough?
