I converted the file to mp4 using Handbrake. It worked. I can play the mp4 and it looks fine.  Yet I can't get it to work in Movie Studio. Maybe i'm doing something wrong. I chose New Project. In the window I chose "match media settings" and browsed to the mp4 file. At the very top I tried both the American and the European setting and I get the same result. 

When I hit play it stops after about 2 sec and shows no video or audio on the top screen or bottom area.

Something isn't right. Your handbrake file should be okay. Try resetting your MS13 as per this post. Whilst written for Vegas Pro it also applies to MS. Lastly you are using the Advanced editing (or whatever it's called) in MS13?
