Error on importing .mov file into Vegas Pro 19

seetharamaiah-velicheti wrote on 8/4/2024, 7:23 AM

Good Morning Friends,

(1) I have licensed versions of Vegas Pro 19 and NewBlueFX.

(2) Through NewBlueFX Project I made a preset title intro and the project saved the video as .mov file.

(3) The .mov file created by NewBlueFx was 3840x2160 UHD 4K, size 1.63 GB, 8 seconds length (I think NewBlueFx does not have choice of making an .mp4 video file).

(4) Now I opened Vegas Pro 19 Project and tried to import that .mov file.

(5) Vegas Pro is not importing saying that .mov file, saying "The file is an unsupported format."

(6) On seeing a suggestion in Microsoft Copilot, I installed Quicktime plugin. Still unable to import.

(7) Request all the masters of the subject to please guide me as to how can I import .mov file into Vegas Pro. I do not wish to use any third party app for coversion process since it may dilute the quality of the original .mov file. Thankyou all.

The properties of the .mov file created by the NewBlueFX Project is, .mov / 8 seconds length / 4K-UHD / 1.63 GB size / Total Bitrate - 25.00 FPS / 1752201 KPBS. I am astonished to see such a big file 1752 MBPS.

@seetharamaiah-velicheti, the MOV file created by Titler Pro is a PNG Sequence that VEGAS cannot natively open. In order to open that file in VEGAS, you must have Quicktime installed and go to the deprecated features tab in the preferences in VEGAS and turn Quicktime on there as well.

There are two better solutions:

  1. Export as a Image Sequence which will produce an image file for each frame. That will properly import into VEGAS.
  2. Use Titler Pro directly on the timeline in VEGAS.

Are you using NBFX Titler Pro as a Standalone (SAL)? If so, why?

If yes, the .mov export from NBFX TP no doubt has an alpha channel. Alpha channel exports/renders (including .AVI and ProRes) always result in huge export/render files. Instead, why not use NBFX TP as a Media Generator FX or event FX within Vegas Pro. Or if you really want to use the SAL, export it as a project and then import that project within NBFX TP as an FX in Vegas Pro.

Thankyou So much Sir. I will go to deprecated features and see.

Yes Sir. My NBFx Titler Pro7-version 221212 was given free with Vegas Pro 17 with NBFx Key (as I remember) and it is working fine in my present Vegas Edit 19. Earlier I used to create NBFx Titles on the timeline of Vegas Pro by Drag & Drop, but first time now I tried to open NBFx individually ( as the working screen of NBFx is of a full size monitor so we can see the effect comfortably) and export a title so that I can use it in future also just by importing into Vegas Pro timeline by drag & drop. Now it struck my mind that, I can create a title intro of NBFx on the timeline of Vegas Pro, select only the intro portion and render in .mp4 file of choice-resolution & save in intro-folder and that also I can drag & drop. Thanks a lot for your advice. My knowledge is a little more improved.

Sir, Now I remember that in Vegas Pro error message it said that that .mov file is made in PNG Sequence hence it cannot open. In NB Titler Pro, is there a choice to select to export as image Sequence (under Export button?

Is there some particular reason that you can't - or dont want to - use Titler Pro as either a Media Generator FX or as an FX on a specific video media event on Vegas Pro's timeline? In my opinion, either of those approaches is just so much easier.

Thankyou Mr Dexcon. Actually I do not know much depth of Vegas Pro or any other software like BorisFX, NewBlueTitler etc. What I do is I shoot my own music video with a Video Camera, import it into Vegas Pro timeline, add an intro as So and So presents, add an outro thanking the viewers. So I only know a little bit of the software just to do this. Sok there is no question of 'I don't want to.' Thankyou for your advice.
