error when combining .veg files - suicide alert!

MarcLAw wrote on 11/30/2003, 10:20 PM
Help.

When I combine two .veg files (about 5 min apiece) and then try to save as a new file, I get an error saying well, there was error, and cannot save new file. Can save the ones individually, but not combined. Any of you out there experience this? Any solutions, advice, workarounds?

Thanks so much for your help. This forum is a lifesaver.

What do you mean <exactly> when you say "combining two .veg files"

I have certainly combined the contents of two veg files into a single veg by copying/pasting the events from one veg over to another... but from your description I guess I don't quite think that is what you are describing. Or is it?

If you are in fact just copying events from one veg to another... then I don't have any suggestions for you... as that is exactly what I do all the time and I have never encountered a problem.

I hope you get the problem figured out.

MarcLAw - As far as I know, presently one can't "combine" veggies. If you mean "Copying" from veg and "Pasting" to another veg, this you can do - I've done it, often - no problem. Q: Are you Copying Pasting from one instance of Vegas to another? The other thing you could do is Render to New Track and use this new render as an import to another veggie.

Yeah, what I did was copy and pasted with two vegas's open. I've done it before with no problem, and now I get this error message. Bizarre. But very scary.

Okay, how many times have you tried it? Try renaming one or both veggies - good for manual backups anway - and repeat. Tell us how you get on. I gotta a skewed veggie the other week. Sent it to HQ - they're still working on it! I had to restart and complete project for client . . ..

Okay, one of the bits of feeback from Sony-HQ was that working with firewire drives could have skewed the project. However, I'd been using ext f/w drives for over a year and not had a problem. I'm not saying THIS is your issue on C/P, but worth considering - yeah?
