when i load up a avi in vf it tries to build an audio proxy. unfortunatly the stream is not consistent and doesnt load the audio, making it tougher to edit. Is there any way to just load up the file without building proxy's, and still be able to hear the audio while editing?
Can you give us some details of the avi? Did you capture it using VF or did you import it from another capturing editor? Can you play the avi in any other player?
I'm sure there are others reading your topic and are thinking about it as you read this. It's been my experience that someone is ready to help.
Get your avi specifacations up on this forum and wait and see.
thanks for ur help, basically im recording a vhs tape to the digi camera. i hit the rec on cam then the the play on vcr, so i get some junk(hard to explain) when the tape first plays (like when u rew a vhs tape all the way then hit play u get the flashes and other stuff at very begin of the tape). the avi plays in the media player fine. its not just this avi, it has done it with others too. basically i just wanna load the avi into vf reguardless what is in it, inconsistent streams or not.
1. Connect your VCR, with the VHS tape in it, by wire to your DiGi cam (does this mean a digital video camcorder?)
2. Start to record on the DV Camcorder.
3. Start the VCR with the VHS tape.
Question: Does your DV Camcorder accept a AV [Analogue] signal?
If not how do you get anthing to record into your DV Camcorder?
Question: You say:"the avi plays in the media player fine" how did you get an AVI file into your pc? Or was this an AVI file already on your pc?
It does appear I'm going round the houses on this one, but what I'm driving at is how do you in fact get any VHS (analogue) "footage" into your pc for VF to edit, anyway?
I have analogue (VHS) on tape and a VHS camcorder. I have to pass this analogue signal through a Dazzle Analogue to Digital convertor. And it is this digital signal that comes into my laptop via a firewire port. Okay, having established that "linkage" I can use VF to directly capture the now Digital signal.
However, what I have found I need to do is to have the VHS VCR or Analogue Camcorder already "rolling" - playing - then smartly go to the capture procedure. It was a bit nailbiting at first but I have got the hang of it now. From what you are saying you do it in the order 2. then 3. as above. I do it 3. then 2. But, but, but I still don't know how you get any analogue signal into your Dv Camcorder. Like I say, is your DV camcorder set up to recieve analogue in?
i have a sony trv530, and the 1/8 cable that has three rca's on it works both ways (input and output). i plug the rca in to back of vcr (vcr output) and connect the 1/8 inch into the camera, record the tape onto camera. then i capture it in sf vid capture via firewire. when i view it in the media player its fine, does have the garbled stuff before the thing im recording starts. i apoligize for my choice of words, im fairly new to this and dont know what everything is called. currently i just cancel in the middle of building the auido proxy and edit it that way. if i let the proxy build then it comes up sayin inconsistent stream, and i have no audio.
Okey dokey, thanks for eaxpanding on your issue you are having. I can't add anymore or suggest a solution other than trying to have the VCR rolling first - then capturing.
See if a VF techie appears on this site to give you an idea. I suppose you could also do a search on this Forum using something like the error message you are getting. As I said I use a Dazzle convertor and don't have a DV Camcorder to record to and then have this piped to VF.
I hope someone is reading this thread to come up with a solution....
