Errors Rendering MPEG-1; but, not AVI or MPEG-2

I have an mpeg file with a single audio track and a single video track with the TimeCode FX applied. The mpeg file began life as a Video-CD .DAT file and was converted to mpeg using VCDGear.

I have no trouble rendering the project as either .AVI or MPEG2; but, I consistently get an error at 00:03:08:21 (Using the TimeCode of the last rendered frame) if I try to render as an MPEG-1.

I have even tried to render the resulting MPEG2 and AVI files and get the same error. Unfortunately, I do not know how to identify any logs that might tell me what the error is. It simply dumps out of the rendering process.

Any ideas?

are you trying to render the mpeg from the vcd? also, try rendering just the last part, to see if the problem is with the source or possibly a project error. that will help.

The file being rendered is located on my hard disk. Interestingly, I as able to use Ulead's DVD MovieFactory to render the file back to VCD format.

I don't think the problem is in the project becuase I have tried to render with several different projects with the following results:

Project #1: Render to MPEG1 - Failed
Project #1: Render to MPEG2 - Successful
Project #1: Render to Uncompressed AVI - Successful
Project #2: Render from Previously Rendered MPEG2 - Failed
Project #3: Render from Previously Rendered AVI - Failed

You did, however, give me an idea to try. I'm going to go to the area that seems to fail and just try to rendered a smaller marked segment and see what happens. Thanks!

what version of Vegas do you have?

I was using Vegas 4.0 without any patches.

I believe that the new 'D' patch did the trick! It's now past the point at which it was bombing out before I applied the patch.

Does this version also render mpeg faster with a Hyperthreading processor? It certainly seems so to me.

By the way, thanks for responding. One of the things that I really like about SonicFoundry is the product support by both the comapny and other users. I haven't run into anything yet that wasn't addressed and/or solved very quickly.
