errors when tying to burn cds

hello-

well, i mostl like cda5, but have yet to be able to actually burn a cd with it. i've tried it on 3 different systems with 3 different cd burners of varying speeds/vintages, and on each system i get some kind of error saying that it can't burn the cd. these aren't buffer under-run errors- bet i can tell, they have something to do with the software not communicating properly with the hardware. the most recent cd burner i've tried is only a couple months old.

well anyway, i'm trying to get an idea of whether this problem is widespread or not, and if it is, whether it's a beta issue that will be fixed for the release. if it's NOT a widespread issue, please let me know and i'll post the specific error messages i'm getting.

thanks!

Actually, I am having a similar problem with two of my audio machines here.
When I try to burn a CD, I click the 'Burn CD' icon on the toolbar and then it tells me that it is 'Scanning for CD Devices'. It scans for about a minute (Yes, a full minute... I know it isn't locked because I can see the status light on my CD-RW's blinking, so I know there is _some_ communication.)

After that minute the box disappears, but the program locks up for about another minute. (The drive light is still blinking at this point) Then it gives me control to do whatever I need to do.

I then place a blank CD in the drive (CD-R) and click Burn CD. It tells me that it is starting to write the tracks, however the Approx. Time Left stays at 00:00 and the percent meter never moves. I have to kill the program at this point. (However, the CD-R disc is now un-usable. There has been some data written to it... It looks like the TOC, but it's corrupted, so I don't know what it is..)

This is a MUST to be fixed. I have tried it on two different CD-R drives on 2 different machines and the problem exists EXACTLY on both.

However, if I open up CDA 4.x and burn from there, it works like a dream!

I've tried this on a P2-400 w/512MB of RAM and a Panasonic 7803 (4x8 CD-R)
and a P4-1.7 w/ 512MB of RAM and a Yamaha SCSI 16x10x40.
