Est arrival time for Vegas Audio 3.0?

Hi,

I generally love Vegas (I use it for audio only) but I'm really running up against the lack of track FX automation and getting very frustrated. I would really rather not have to consider other programs and I would consider waiting if the next version adds this.

From what I can gather Vegas 3.0 will adress this problem? Is that true? Does anyone have a general guess about when Vegas 3.0 might be available? All I'm looking for is an approximate time frame: a month, 6 months, 1 year?

Thats one I would like answered too. Ever since this best buy blowout sale hit I've assumed that they were trying to gain a larger portion of the market, so that when the upgrade came they made their profit there. Also I thought It was also a selling point to other video companies such as pixelan to make video plugins available to vegas video. Premier has a TON of third party stuff to brag about, so I looked at them showing these companies a list of NEW vegas users as well as the old, so that they hopefully would support it. My guess would be either right before christmas[end of november/early december]. If not then sometime this summer...maybe. I made that early prediction only because of the best buy sale so who knows...anyone????

Sonic Foundry, as memory serves, has mentioned that it will be out before the end of the year. As for features though... they have been pretty tight lipped.
Regarding the Best Buy price-- that question has popped up many times before (with Vegas and Sound Forge), but they've never given any real answer about Best Buy's pricing-- and that's fine with me. I'll pick up Vegas for $150 & the upgrade to 3.0 when it comes out!

Vegas Audio 3.0 is due out around the time of NAMM 2002, mid to late January. It will incorporate new audio features, that won't be included in the initial
Vegas Video 3.0 release. These new audio features will then be included in a future Vegas Video 3.0a update after Vegas Audio 3.0 is released.

that makes a lot of sense...

But having said that, I've been using Vegas Video Beta 3.0 to mix a few projects I recorded in Vegas Audio 2.0...

And I have to say.. I'm in love, and I don't want it to expire.

The master buss has solved a lot of clipping problems for multiple buss projects, th phase switches are very convenient! the way it handle audio envelopes and event grouping is much better... the different types of audio fade are a stroke of genius... and the different types of panning ( equal power ) etc... they really help make the projects sound wider and clearer...

As for stability... oh yeah baby, no crashes yet and I've been adding and remomving plugins that use to cause problems on massive projects.

The automation of FX is a lot better in terms of envelopes, but I don't think it's possible to modify invidual parameters of DX plugins yet... but soon hopefully?

All in all.. I'm pretty chuffed.

No MIDI sequencer... which is both bad and good... at least they haven't turned it into a horrible Steinborgesq product... but I sure would like to hook this baby up to gigastudio... a basic piano roll type thing would do!

Still.. looks like MIDI sync is the way round for now.. and I'm not complaining if that's what it takes to make the product this rock-solid!

Oh yeah, and the consolidate project option while saving will literally free up gigabytes of data on my hard-drives! and it'll make backup of projects that much easier!

All hail Sonic Foundry, keep up the good work, and thanks for listening and implementing features I was hoping for!
