European formats - Help!

So, I have finished my movie - actually a series of still images of my cousins family with music in the background. He lives in Germany and later this week, I'm going there.
Since he is German, do you recommend that I make a SVCD with MPEG1 in NTSC or PAL - I thought those were for VHS type tapes only?
Or should I make an MPEG2 also in SVCD NTSC or PAL.
I assumed that he does not have a DVD player, so I thought I would bring this over on a CDR - which keeps me from delivering an .AVI to him.
Your recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks,
Pick

If your cousin's going to play the (s)vcd on a PC then the PAL / NTSC issue shouldn't matter. On the other hand he may well have a DVD capable of playing them, so I'd go with PAL. Assuming you've got the time to do 2 renders, why not produce a VCD (MPEG1) and an SVCD (MPEG2)?
