Event replacement within the timeline

I have cases in which I will use a copy of an event, let's call it 005, in several instances along a timeline and inserted between other events.

Now I need to replace one instance of 005 with 022. Is there a way to replace one event with another, once an event is dropped on the timeline (besides mechanically removing it and dropping in event 022?)

The reason I am asking for a simple way is that I am not even sure that 022 is what I need and will want to go through a whole slew of replacement events to decide which would work best.

If I understand your question, you can add the replacement scene as TAKE. This allows the sceme to fit in the current event and it will inherit the attributes of the current event.

Or you can go into the project media pool and replace 005 with 022 which will then change all instances of 005 to become 022.

Not as flexible as using takes but you can always undo if you later change your mind.

Thanks, people. Replace in the Project Media doesn't work in this case because it's exactly what I don't want, which is to replace all instances of 005.

But TAKE looks like what I might need -- I just can't figure out how it works. I'll see what I can find in the manual.

Right click on the new media in the pool or explorer or windows explorer or trimmer region and drag it over the event on the timeline. Let go of the right mouse button and you'll get a list of choices.

Brilliant! I got it figured out and It's Add as Takes for my case.
Thanks to all. What a group!

Doh! I really must read more carefully before posting - you wanted to replace one instance, not all instances. Glad you got it sorted anyway.

Cheers
