Event Shading

I have version 6.0b (Build 126). Why when I put a .mpg video clip on the timeline does it become shaded red/pink? The clip has both audio and video components. For example an event is on video track 3 and audio track 4 but they are shaded, when other like clips in the same file aren't shaded. It doesn't seem to be doing anything, but then what does trhe shading mean?

I hope this isn't a stupid question.

Pink means that the audio and video are no longer in sync.

I've notice that if i split a clip up, move one piece to a different set of tracks, and then move it left or right at all, it turns pink. I guess this is because it's no longer in sync with the rest of the clip it came from. This seems to be an unnecessary by-product of what the pink shading is supposed to indicate. It would be nice if there was a right-mouse-button click option to say "yeah, yeah, i know, but i wanna do this, so don't bug me about it anymore."

help me to undestand this better> I have a project where the audio and video appear to be in perfect synch yet I do not understand why the audio track is pink. is just that I can not see it ?? If they are out fo synch by a frame or two how do Iget them back into synch - my memeory tells me that there is a feature which help with this.

Also please help me understand why other events when clicked go green or purple ?

I have searched the manuals and there is no obvious mention of this.

Thanks Vince

Ok I found in the manual in the tool for fixing synch problems - still don't understand the greens and purples and Marrons

Many thanks Vince
