Every VP use gets a crash .dmp file ?

FayFen wrote on 10/23/2022, 8:42 AM

I recently got VP19 , I noticed that every launch it immediately creates a dmp crash file at ...AppData\Local\CrashDumps

(Same is with VMS16). Now, even when I EXIT or closes the app by the X the files do not "auto" deleted and they are piling up.

A bug? a feature?

Thank you.

I did two successful projects and renders yesterday and rendered a short this morning and I'm not seeing .dmp files stack up. The last one for Vegas was on October 18.

Just for the record, it looks like this.

They makes one file at launch just before or during "initializing UI" and second at closing.

I am not seeing those. What if you reset VEGAS? Does it still happen then?

@FayFen would you be willing to send one of those dump files to me to examine?

@FayFen: We received the dmp file and have examined it. It looks like the crash is within one of the Boris plugins you have installed on your system. Since this crash is not taking down VEGAS in general, it is likely from a separately spawned process that is being used to verify the activation of the Boris plugins (just a guess, since we do not have a capability to debug their libraries).

Thank you, I looked in windows events report and I found that each launch of VMS16 or VP19 makes an error due to KernelBase.dll and probably the dump file. Only these apps. I reinstalled older system image and found there same thing. I will try even an older image.

Thank you Derek.

Enigma, on this older SYS image (pre VP19) I found that VMS16 will not run due to ntdll.dll error . But installing VP19(643) went well and do not issue any dmp files at all.

** For the record, I copied and replaced ntdll.dll and Kernelbase.dll from my other PC into this one and all looks fine. No dmp files and no immediate crashes so far 😅
