EX1 MXF files do not work on V8.1 Vista 64bit

Hi

Just got a new Dell Precision 4400 laptop with Vista 64bit. I installed Vegas 8.1 on it and I cant seem to open any MXF files created with Sony clip browser 2.00.00.

When trying to import or drag and drop it says "the file is unsupported format".

Any advice where to start looking to solve the issue?

Can you open or render other MPEG-2 video?

Hi

Hmmm... Yeah I dont even see the render to mpeg2 or mxf as an option on the file type list. But surely Vegas should support its own codecs natively no?

Sami, I've been editing my EX1 mxf's happily in the 8.1 under Vista x64 since the very beginning, so something can definitely be done to your installation to enable it, as well.

Hey Sami,

You're not using the trail version are you? There isn't MPEG2 Support in the trial as far as I know, so that could possibly be it, or there may be something about the way things installed where the MPEG2 decoder that Vegas has access to is not being allowed access. Just a couple shots in the dark for you there.

Hi

No its not a trial version. Well, at least I entered my serial and it registered it fine.

I have no idea what to do... anyone?

OK! I installed Vegas 8.0c and now the mxf files work in both 8.0c and 8.1, excellent!

The trial version is only time restricted meanwhile. Any codec should work for four weeks in the current demo versions.

This was an install process problem where some (shared) codec plugins wasn't installed correctly. It happened sometimes with Versions 8.0a, 8.0b und now 8.1. But it should work fine with 8.0c. So installing 8.0c was one of the perfect methods to solve the problem.
