David,
I make the utmost effort to respect peoples sensitivities when I'm in their place of worship to the extent that if I don't know what they are I don't enter them, I will not even take images of the outside of them before asking permission.
However we live in a global village and this forum is a part of it. It's simply impossible to avoid what could be some form of offense to someones beliefs, in fact many terms in common use in english derive from blasphemous phrases, I'd doubt though most Christians would even be aware of them let alone take offense at them.
I think you just need to accept that at times you are going to run into things that are offensive, but the critical test is were they intended to be offensive. If the person uttering them did so with the intent of offense by all means be offended and object.
I recognize that this forum is global village. And like other public places, participants can't (and shouldn't even try to) control the behavior of others. When VideoCurmudgeon objected to the rather base use of the name "Jesus," I think Barleycorn mistook this as some sort of attempt to control discussion here.
Honestly, I was not all that offended by the initial use of "Jesus." I roll with the punches... What bothered me, however, was Barleycorn's response. I think he mischaracterized VideoCurmudgeon's objection. Plus, it wouldn't hurt Barleycorn to learn to "roll with the punches" also.
In a diverse place such as this, sensitivity and respect are great virtues. If someone is offended (hurt) by the words of the other, a response of "Hey, you can't *dictate* to me how I talk here!!!" may be a statement of fact, but it is also very self-centered and mean-spirited. To respond with "Sorry, didn't mean to step on toes..." shows thoughtfulness to everyone else, and is evidence of a willingness to live peacably in the "global village."
I dragged her to the timeline to perform a little editing but I'm having trouble with the transitions.
You know, trim a few frames off the intro, dissolve the middle section a little and add the 'Barn Doors' effect at the back end.
The audio levels are way too high but the control seems to be stuck at maximum!
I tried adding a little motion blurr to smooth out the rough edges but it snapped back at me.
And no matter what I do with the Pan/Crop I can't seem to get the aspect ratio right!
Oh just hang on a second, I can hear somebody calling...
"Alan dear, would you like steak for dinner tonight?"
.. . and then there is the "Ripple Edit Effect" . . . AND DON'T talk to me about Parent/child>Child> PArent . . . ahhhhh . .. This Wife version is more trixy than I thought . . . can I get a refund? Then there is the PALymony . . .
