If you have a text EDL in the proper format, Vegas already will open a text EDL.
File/open/EDL
You can export an EDL or AAF file as well.

People sometimes use the term EDL wildly when it's really a fairly strict and certainly limited format.

Making a guess at what Steve wants (from what he's describing)...

If you wanted to type in shots and timecode, Veggie Toolkit's Media Manager tool can do that. It can also open text files so if you were taking logs you can probably get them onto the timeline that way. What you'll get is a bunch of entries for offline clips on the timeline. You can use these as a basis for a capture by hoosing to recapture all offline media.

Thanks Spot, I dont know the proper format. the client sends me these notes after watching a timecoded tape. How I format this?

Tape 1
00:01.0 to 00:34.0 transition to
05:42.0 to 06:10.0 transition to
07:57.0 to 09:36.0

I will be doing hundreds of these and am looking for a fast way to do it.
Thanks
Steven
