Explorer Folders Not Displaying

Hello All,

I am running Vegas Movie Studio 9 Plat. and I created a Sub-Folder to hold some video.

When I start Vegas and click on the "Explorer" tab, I try to navigate to my Sub-Folder, but it isn't showing up. So, I moved the video files to the Root Folder, and they don't show up their either.

However, if I close Vegas and open up Windows Explorer, I see all my Folders and Sub-Folders and Files.

I have closed and restarted Vegas and even restarted my PC. I clicked the Refresh Icon in Vegas and still they are not showing up.

I am running Windows XP. Vegas Movie Studio Platinum v9.0b (build 92)

Any ideas?

As always, Thanks

I've never come across this, and judging by the lack of response nor has anyone else.

I'm not sure if this is an xp issue or VMS. You could reinstall VMS (all your projects will remain intact). You could run a sfc on xp in case any system files have got corrupt. Are you up to date on sp3?

It sounds like one of those deals where 'it has to work.' Where are you creating your folder and sub-folder, and more importantly what format are your assets in? My guess is if you look in the top right of the Explorer window you will see the 'View' button. Click the drop down arrow and click 'All Files.' You may be using something VMS doesn't like, so it won't show without clicking that. Let us know. Cin

I'm a fairly new user of Vegas and have had a similar (tho not identical) problem. I know the files are on my computer but they don't appear in the Vegas explorer.

A solution that seems to work for me is to close the the Vegas explorer down and then open it up again (I'm not in front of my computer now so, from memory, one way to do this is to go to the View drop down menu and untick Explorer then re-tick it)

If you make a change to a folder that is displayed in the VMS Explorer, hit the Refresh button (or F5) and it will update.

Or you could have created a new folder within the VMS Explorer by clicking the New Folder button.

Only times I've heard of this happening is when the user does not have admin priveleges in Windows.

What type of video files are these? What is the file extension? (By default, the Windows explorer doesn't show the extension, you'll need to use Tools -> Folder Options to see them)

Have you tried setting the Vegas Movie Studio explorer to show all files? Choose "All Files" from the View dropdown in the explorer toolbar. Do they show up now?
