Explorer in Vegas

I have been using Vegas since 3.0 and this never happened. I can not locate my Explorer in Vegas 6. I toggle back and forth between Alt -1 and the Explorer does not appear. All other view item show up but I now have to use internet explorer to add events. I am trying to finish up a big project and I am stumped. I reset everything back to default but still no Explorer. Someone please help...The dark side has got me...

Have you tried the View menu ? - if that works , maybe your keyboard shortcuts got changed. You can set them how you like in Options / Prefs / Keyboard

I checked the Shortcut keys for changes...Alt-1 is still Explorer. When I go to View and check the explorer, the top bar in vegas grey's out as if Explorer is now open somewhere but it is nowhere to be seen. I am using a duel monitor system and have closed all other applications so Explorer is not hiding behind something. This is really strange...

Did you set any Favorites? If so, perhaps your ExplorerFavorites.txt file is corrupted. Try renaming it, then start Vegas and see if that helps.

For Vegas6 you'll find this file in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sony\Vegas\6.0 where <username> is your login name. You'll need to set the Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders in order to navigate to that folder.

Thanks for the response. checking that folder I see 5 files. A text document named ExplorerFavorites ( it opens in notepad with nothing there..2bytes info) which has no extension.... and 4 other small files. ... Vegas Redo Buffer 2.tmp / Vegas Undo Buffer 2.tmp and Vegas Redo Buffer 3.tmp Vegas Undo Buffer 2.tmp
Should the ExplorerFavorites have an extention.

Amended message to my last. I am sorry, I had my file extensions hidden....the extension to the ExplorerFavorites files is .txt. However, I still am stumped. When I click Alt-1 the main title bar greys out as if another dialogue box has focus but it is not visible. Any other possibilities?

Have you renamed or change the icons for special Windows folders like My Computer, My Documents, etc.? Though I'd expect you to have problems in Vegas 5 as well if that was the case.

[Edit]: One more thing -- do you have Photoshop installed? It's been known to install files that can cause problems with the media pool and explorer, see this Knowledge Base article:
