Explorer thumbnails sort order - pls fix it.

Vegas team. (I know this is a public forum but some do read these comments & there's those on here who spk or poss have influence with those in control 😉)

In Explorer the only sorting option for Thumbnails is by name, I want them to be sorted by date. Details will sort them by date etc but switch to Thumbnails & the order reverts to by Name.😒

This should be a basic fundamental option for Explorer but hasn't been fixed.. & I suspect as VP23 is on the horizon this won't be fixed.

I've tried reverting to Legacy explorer but for some reason it undocks itself & has to be re-added after closing / reopening Vegas... Sometimes it's still docked but at some point it just disappears. I generally use Windows Explorer folders on my other monitor dragging & dropping to VP so I don't immediately realise VP's Legacy Explorer has decided to bugger off, but sometimes I want to use VP's Explorer + the Trimmer... etc.. I'll review media from Windows that are sorted by date on a media player, then when I go to the VP thumbnails to find the file, trim it & add it to the timeline the only option there is by Name.

Of course I can find the file I want by searching or using the Details option but when Windows is set to sort by date but VP is set to name only this makes ... 😒 & besides I shouldn't have t switch from Thumbnails to Details or revert to Legacy Explorer.

Pls don't launch a new version leaving the old one 'unfinished' !

Just rename the files to it's recording date-number, like I always do:

For a long time, I've added the date shot to the file name when I transfer the files from the camera. I also add comments on the file contents that is easily searchable by Agent Ransack. I don't use thumbnails in Windows Explorer but they are useful in Vegas Pro. I always do that same for photos and negatives that I scan.

It's not just about 'sort by date' tho, it's the fact that the only option is sort by name. Sort by date is simply my preferred sorting order but occasionally sort by type would suite me..

This is my latest project & the list grows each day as I work & film. (I've shrunk the thumbnails in both images so I can screen grab them, they're normally bigger which means I have to scroll through to find the file I want)

Windows as we all know, neatly sorted by chronological order & grouped by type. 👍

VP's messy jumble,

I shouldn't have to manually date or rename my files & In this day & age wanting or expecting a better system in VP shouldn't be asking for a lot.

@Gid You could use the Windows explorer instead of the Vegas explorer? You can also drag and drop media from Windows explorer directly to the VP timeline.

@3POINT I mentioned that in my first comment, that is what I normally do.
