There are a few codecs in the Avid LE pack that encode SD.
DNxHD is not one of them. Try 1:1X, there are some DV formats as well . . .

Do not see an AVID export in my Render solutions.
Do i have to import a new codec?
If yes - where can I get it?
If not - which of the Render As solutions do I use?

The Avid codecs are a Quicktime custom video format. That's where you'll find them, assuming they have been installed on your system.

Using SD resolution in an DNxHD or Cineform format vs DV codec will give you much better looking color, especially in down-rezzed HD project. You are doing the right thing Vic.
