Vegas 6's AAF feature will allow you to export your edit decisions to AAF-compatible apps (AVIDs, higher end Protools, FCP etc).

EDL Convert Pro (3rd party) is our go-to provider for OMF, they have a free demo: http://www.cuibono-soft.com

I have a sound house about to take on my DV feature, and they're asking for something compatible with ProTools (including the sound for each event's audio with handles). Can anyone comment if EDL Convert Pro is considered more error-free than an AAF export from Vegas 6 straight to ProTools?

And related question: What does the selection box to "Embed WAV" mean when one does a Save As and chooses AAF Export?

Editor, The embed function includes the .wav files in with the EDL info.. so only one large file is created, instead of the EDL info and all the project media files separate. .. However, I have no experience with exporting OMF or AAF to Slow Tools... only importing from Avids and FCP for audio post.
The Cui Bono Soft EDL Convert worked ok once I fiqured out how to use it , but volume envelopes and x-fades were not included when I did a project with an older ver. of vegas. The AAF format seems to be easier and carries more info in my experience with EDL Convert. Make sure the post house has the ability to import AAF files because it's a newer exchange format.

See my other recent posts about the caveats of the AAF format.

Many thanks, rraud. I'll follow up on your other posts. Yes, the engineer at the sound house said they can import AAF files. I resisted the temptation to ask him if he had considered using Vegas as a multitrack audio editor....

Slow Tools users generally curse and spit on the ground at the mention of Vegas... or any other audio app for that matter, and rant about it not being "professional". I guess they spend so much money and time learning it... they get an attitude. Can't really blame em', they've been brain-washed.
Here's a link to the thread with the AAF info:

Let us know any useful info you uncover exchanging files with PTs.
Best wishes with your project.
