exporting image sequence

Could've sworn there's a way to do this in Vegas, but I looked all over yesterday and couldn't find it.

I know you can import a sequence of still images easily enough, but can you export the timeline or a section of the timeline (heck, a section of a single track would be fine) to a sequence of still images? Or should I just render to an AVI and use another program to break it apart (I think Jasc Animation Shop will do this)?

I want to save a clip (about 7 seconds, though I should probably cut that down some) to still images, edit those images in Paint Shop Pro, and then import them back into Vegas.

Or is this sneaking suspicion that this requires a script or plug-in a valid one? (Seem to recall seeing this mentioned as a feature of Excalibur or Tsunami ...)

Under TOOLS--SCRIPTING, there's a export image sequence script, providing you have version 5.0. Also make sure you switch your preview to BEST(FULL) before doing this.

Y'know, about an hour or so after I posted that question, I thought to check the scripts that already came with Vegas. But by the time I got home, I forgot all about it.

for 7 seconds , the script that comes with vegas is fine as it should not take to long .. but exporting image seq. in vegas IS slow ..

a MUCH faster method, plus some additional added benefits, is to use the vegas/satish frame server and frame serve to virtualdubmod and save a image seq. that way... plus since virtualdub has better (and faster) resizing and cropping and better (and faster) video filters, you can proccess your frames this way at the same time.

So, I just discovered that Jasc Animation Shop will open an AVI file and not only export the frames to images, but will even export the frames to a single, multiple-layed image (which would make editing the frames even easier). Too cool.
