EXPORTING MULTIPLE AUDIO TRACKS TO DAW?

Bob-Harper wrote on 2/21/2021, 6:00 AM

Hi, I'm using Vegas Pro 18 and "Effects" from the post suite.

Working on one ad that has about 10 tracks of SFX audio in it and was wondering if there was any way to export these tracks say like a batch export with a time stamp or such to edit further in my DAW to mix down in there? (DAW Made by same company...Samplitude) I'll be adding all of the voice snippets there as well.

I don't see any options like that in Vegas but figured I'd at least ask. I know there's a "mixer" etc. but it's limited compared to the DAW and of course familiarity of workflow in same. I guess my only other choice is to render the video, bring it into the DAW and then import all of the effects, music etc. I had used and line them up that way.

Thanks for any thoughts.

BTW, getting to really like "Vegas Effects" and hoping they'll have an update soon but...not holding my breath. '-)

Thanks, Bob

I bought Samplitude a while back in the hope that there would be some way for Vegas Pro to interact with Samplitude (yes, both being from the same company was a plus) - unfortunately I couldn't find a way to do that other than copy/paste or render off each VP audio track and then import those rendered tracks into Samplitude. And Samplitude export options aren't all that impressive when wanting to export for DVD/BD purposes. All in all for me, buying Samplitude was a waste of money.

Dex- Thanks for your input. I use Samplitude a lot in audio work and PRIMARILY because of how I'm able to go to any sound clip on a track and adjust its parameters, add effects etc. etc. without it affecting any other clips (objects) on that track. I do custom ads with a bunch of SFX and various voices etc. so it's a timesaver for me. BUT...it took A LOT of time to learn all of its nuances and quirks etc. I could see for your usage though, it doesn't cut it. Good luck finding alternatives etc. and thanks for at least chiming in on my query.

I don't know what version you have but in most versions there is a script that will export the tracks. It exports the whole track as a file type that you choose so you just line up the beginning of each track in your DAW.

DougT - Will look into "scripts" as mentioned. Am on Pro 18....and since purchasing POST have spend far more time on "EFFECTS" than the new Vegas. I jumped from Version 13. '-) MANY THANKS!

RESOLVED..........Doug, I found a script "RENDER AUDIO TRACKS" and tried that. It made it through about 4 of them and then ERRORED on me. I sent the issue to Magix. Regardless, I imported what was rendered into Samplitude and simply lined up the starts and the wavs seem to be in the right place.

MANY THANKS on the "scripts" tip. I'll try it again tomorrow to see if they all render out without crashing.

Now that I'm spending more time on Vegas than "Effects" it's great to find these little hidden gems.

THANK YOU, Bob

I do not know which EDL type Samplitude can import AAF (or OMF).. in any case, I use AATranslater converter to import and export audio files to natively incompatible DAWs and NLEs.
If you do not need the exact audio timeline as in VP, rendering the audio tracks works. Naturally you want to render in an uncompressed PCM audio format).

Bob-Harper wrote on 2/21/2021, 11:17 AM

Samp can import just about anything and yes, uncompressed for sure.

You threw me a bit of a curve saying "exact audio timeline" however. I think, but could be wrong, that if I render the audio files via the script, they will appear "where they are in the timeline" as long as I align all the heads of each clip in the DAW.

When I have a chance I'll take a look at AA Translater. Thanks for the tip!

An EDL (OMF.,AAF, XML) file will import ALL the events, tracks, volume, fades, x-fades, panning, ect..to a new timeline they as they were on the original timeline. Fx plug-ins and some automation will not transfer though. Depending on the import/export app, Interleaved stereo files are sometimes imported as two mono flies. AAF, OMF can have the audio files embedded or separate. I never had much success with Vegas and AAF files, though it usully works going to PTs. OMFs exported from other NLEs, converted to XML for VP import, always worked good for me.
Rendering out the tracks is faster/easier, but reduces the options, depending on the complexity of the audio.

Thanks R Raud...

I was away and couldn't respond a couple days ago.

Makes sense to me and I thank you for the savvy advice and tips.
