Exporting video to dv camera....

I have not purchased vegas video yet, because I am trying to get some answers for my questions. If someone could answer this questions, I would appeciate it.

Here it goes....

Can I export video from my firewire card on my computer, back to my dv camcorder after I edit it? I know that firewire is "bi-directional" but I'm not sure if I can export video back to my camera. The reason I need to know this is because I don't have a dvd burner, and I wanted to export the edited video onto my camcorder, and then into my VCR, using the coaxial cables.

Thanks

Yes, you can "print to tape" from the capture utility after you've done your edits. If you connect your VCR to your camera you can make a VHS dupe at the same time (you'll have to control the VHS machine manually; your DV camera will be controlled from Vegas).

Thanks for your help.

What type of cable do I need for this exporting opperation? Can I use 6 pin to 4 pin or do I have to buy a different cable?

Thanks

I guess it depends on the camera. Mine, a Cannon ZR45 uses a standard 4 pin to 6 pin firwire you can pick up almost anywhere that carries electronic supplies. I would think that's fairly typical, but who knows, maybe some camera use 6 pin.

Do make sure your camera can record DV in, other wise a wasted exercise.
