I believe if you right click and go to properties (on the event itself) you can turn off the loop setting. I do not have it on this computer and it is in the middle of a render. I believe that is where it is though.

Insert - Video Envelopes- Event Velocity will get you started. Then right click on the envelope on the desired frame, add a point, then add another point adjacent to it. Now right click on the rightmost point and select "Set to..." In the resulting setting box enter "0." Now extend that last frame to the right as desired. The frame you set the velocity to 0 on will remain on screen as a freeze frame.

Right click on the event, select "Switches", and then uncheck "Loop". Bring the mouse over to the right side of the event until the cursor changes to the "resizing box", then click and drag. Voila!

Learn something every day on this forum. That is certainly a much more straightforward way of achieving the effect. Wonder if there's yet another way of doing it hiding in Vegas?

Pauls way is the best fast way. But just for fun. Capture the last frame of your video in the clipboard, or save it to your harddrive. There are two icons located in the video preview box to do this. Make sure when you capture the last frame that your video preview is set on best full. If it is set for preview or good your image will be degraded when you capture it. Then paste via clipboard or place new jpg of last frame at the end of video you want to modify. Then you can also modify your last frame with what ever effect you want without changing the main video or using keyframes.

Also keep in mind that Paul's method, though elegantly simple, only works if that frame is physically the last frame in the video file or subclip. If you've trimmed/split the clip at that frame then even with looping turned off, dragging out the end of the event will merely restore what follows that frame rather than repeating it.
