External Control Surface Yamaha DM 2000-HELP!

cchoy wrote on 7/6/2006, 10:43 AM
I've posted on a few forums and nobody's even responded so far.

I am trying to use a Yamaha DM2000 as a Control Surface for Vegas.
I can sort of get the Yamaha to write to Vegas (with some problems)... but I cannot for the
life of me get the Automation to read. Anybody got any ideas?

How does Vegas send out its MIDI data?

"External control surface" is the sort of thing I expect to find on aircraft, missiles and other flying machines. However I see that your question falls outside my area of knowledge. Perhaps a post putting MIDI & Vegas in the heading?

Will this device emulate the Mackie HUI?

I don't know if this device emulates a mackie HUI.

Does anyone?

I still don't know what to do.

You have the thing, have you tried reading the manual?
The other alternatives to the Mackie do offer Mackie emulation and I believe in the documentation tell you how to switch into that mode.

Also Vegas's HUI interface is programable.

Getting any of these things to work unless it's native Mackie I'd imagine to take a bit of work, unless someone here or over in the audio forum has already blazed the trail with your specific device expect to do a fair bit of learning, research and configuring.
