External Monitor problems

I tried to hook up an external monitor to my JVC GR DVL 157 (dv-camera). I used the av-cable that ends in a scart, and put that in the tv. The camera is hooked to the computer via firewire. I disabled device control in the capture-app and the project is in dv pal-format. I DO see the timeline video on the lcd-screen on my camera but the tv only shows a blank timecode ( I normally see that if I hook my camera up to a tv and playback). From computer to camera, there are no problems. How do I get the movie to be shown on the tv? Do I use the right cable? Did I forget a setting in vegas or on my camera? Please help.

I have just set up my system with an external TV. My Sony cam has a setting in to display to the LCD only or to the LCD and Video Out.

Hope this helps.

thanks for your answer. I'm afraid my camera does not have that setting. So I'm probably not able to dit it. Unfortunately.

My JVC has a setting to toggle the AV/input. You have to turn it off before the camera will route the signal to the analog outputs. Also, if you are using the s-vhs connector, it overrides the yellow composite RCA connector.

JAB,
JVC...Using the S-VHS disables yellow connector? On output or input? Don't you need your yellow to get the audio...or is there a separate jack for audio?

Looks like Jan's model may not have passthru feature.

On my JVC, when you want to use the s-vhs in or out, it overides the yellow composite VIDEO connector. The red and white (right and left audio) are still active.

OK...
I was thinking of my Sony's yellow minijack(aud/vid in one).

The JVC uses the all in one mini but it breaks out to 3 RCA's for composite, right and left. When the S-vhs cable is used, the yellow rca is disabled. Sorry for the confusion.
